We’ve got a sparkling year of events in 2006, packed with everything you and your XK could wish for, from insightful presentations at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich factory in January to a tour of the breathtaking Scottish landscapes in June, to a splendid Grand Tour to St Petersburg in July and August.

January 24 - New XK Presentation & Castle Bromwich Factory Tour

Philip writes: “The new XK is clearly going to be a Jaguar success story and will, in my opinion, be a future classic. I have not yet driven one but have been very fully briefed on the technical side and have seen early examples being built at Castle Bromwich. I am keen to share this experience with members and have persuaded Jaguar to invite a limited number of members to a special private briefing and advance factory tour of the impressive new facilities at Castle Bromwich.

Therefore, on Jan 24 we will have a factory tour, presentations, a close look at the technical aspects of the car and lunch at Castle Bromwich for up to 20 members.

We imagine this will be very oversubscribed so please don't delay if you would like to join us. The cost will be £60 each.”

June 4-12 - Reivers & Highlands Tour Image - ev_scot.jpg

The stately elegance of Linden Hall near Morpeth in Northumberland, and the incredible location of the Drumossie Hotel, near Inverness, with its dramatic views to the Moray Firth, cannot fail to conjure a sense of escapism or stir fond memories of Scottish landscapes and open roads.

This eight-day Tour, organised by Mike Griffiths, will entertain the intrepid XK traveller with many Celtic traditions, whilst indulging in some XK Club-style socialising. Mike has developed a tremendous reputation in the Club for his events and this is his longest tour yet. It is his routes that have now become his biggest talking point. You can expect nothing less than stunning countryside and super surfaces. (If only your XK could read and write, it would sign you up tomorrow!)

XK Mechanic, Keith Fell and his very able assistant Karen, will be accompanying the Tour with their trusty van, full of spares. So you can rest assured, that the rural location of this Tour will not hinder your enjoyment; help will be at hand should the odd Scotsman get caught in your spokes!

Mike and I look forward to adding the finishing touches to the Tour itinerary, and providing you with the appropriate paperwork to book for this super Tour up North!

Jul,y 20 - August 7 - The Grand Tour to St. Petersburg * NB: This tour is now full but please browse our other tours in 2006 for some super XK getaways *

XK Club tour organiser Fred Secker excites us with another GTSP bulletin:

Gala Charity Dinner: “We are very pleased to announce that His Excellency the British Ambassador to Russia has accepted our invitation to be guest of honour at our black tie dinner to be held in St Petersburg at the opulent Marble Palace. The Consul General and a Vice Governor of the city will also attend along with many city dignitaries, Jaguar customers and prominent businessmen.

As a finale to our stay in St Petersburg, we will have a fantastic firework display courtesy of the City Authorities. I personally believe this pyrotechnic extravaganza will be staged to celebrate the presence of the XK Club in their city but I have to admit that Navy Day also happens to be on that Sunday! Plans are afoot to view the fireworks from a boat on the River Neva.”

September 1-3 - Goodwood Revival Meeting Image - ev_revival.jpg

If you’ve ever been to the magnificent Goodwood Revival Meeting, you won’t need any convincing that this is the best motor racing weekend of the year. The Revival takes place at the splendid Goodwood Estate in West Sussex and authentically recreates the golden age of the Goodwood Motor Circuit between 1948 and 1966.

Racing at Goodwood relives the magic of the historic cars and motorcycles that would have competed in that era, including Grand Prix cars from the 50s and 60s, magnificent sports and GT cars and rare Formula Juniors.

It also makes an unmissable opportunity to dress up in your most fabulous 50s outfits, from Militaria to vintage fashion, and there’s a superb selection of authentic and modern stores to do your Christmas shopping at!

As usual, the XK Club will have a stand at Goodwood, along with our sister organisation, the E-type Club, where you can meet the team, purchase Club membership or treat yourself to something from our exclusive merchandise collections.

September 15-22 - Red Rock Rallye Image - ev_red.jpg

This year’s tremendously popular Red Rock Rallye featured a spectacular tour through some of the most stunning parts of America, including the Mount Nebo Loop, Huntington Canyon, Colorado River, Deadhorse Point and the national parks of the Arches and Canyonlands.

Organised yearly by XK Club Tour organisers Randy and Debby Aagaard, the 2006 tour promises to be equally spectacular, combining magnificent cars, excellent company, breathtaking scenery and luxury accommodation. Email events@xkclub.com for more information.
