Thursday 24 July - I am planning another lunch meeting. Several members requested weekday gatherings, and the weekends are so busy this time of year. The plan is to meet at the Melbury Abbas Airfield and lunch at LORE OF THE SKY, I’m told this is excellent.
17 August - Simply Jaguar at Beaulieu - I have been working with Neil Hart, E-type club representative for Sussex, and together we have made contact with Beaulieu to arrange a specific area for both XK Club and ‘E’ Type club at the event.
Members should go to the Beaulieu website to book admission for this event, and please also let me know that you are attending so that we get a big enough allocated area. It would be great to get a big turnout for this day and hopefully give a good showing for our clubs.

P & K Thornton Open Day – 9th August
P & K Thornton’s annual Open Day is taking place on Friday 9th August, and all E-Type and XK Club members are warmly invited to join them in celebrating summer and another fantastic season of classic Jaguar motoring.
As always, they’ll be serving top-quality barista coffee in exchange for donations to Cancer Research UK – a great opportunity to enjoy a cuppa while supporting a worthy cause.
This year’s event promises to be another enjoyable and informative day, with a relaxed look behind the scenes at some of the exciting projects currently underway in the workshop.

Last year we met up three times for lunch and I am hoping to organise a more varied programme in 2025. Our area members were also at events such as VSCC Prescott, Silverstone Festival and Goodwood. As I put together a plan for the year, I would like to hear your thoughts on things to do and places to go. Our region covers Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. We are not limited to these counties but do remember about the distances people may need to travel when suggesting a venue. Martin Reynolds

27 July 2025 Bromley Pageant of Motoring
Bromley Kent goes to Sussex - an extravaganza of all forms of transport
Bromley Pageant of Motoring is back! In partnership with Classics World, we’re delighted to announce that The Bromley Pageant of Motoring will be returning on the 27th of July 2025 to the South of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex.
This spacious venue offers all the facilities we need to stage a high quality car show for all the family, enabling us to bring Bromley Pageant of Motoring back to its former glory. And crucially, it’s outside London’s ULEZ with great access to the M23 near Gatwick Airport.
Our new home will also allow us to offer camping on the Saturday evening. Along with a well-maintained venue we will also have use of the permanent car parks with excellent disability access, toilet blocks, drinking water taps and the Norfolk Pavilion for indoor trade stands in addition to the famous One Make Parking, club displays and outdoor trade and autojumble.
With car clubs, special displays and entertainment, it’s bound to be a fabulous day out for all the family. Our new home will also allow us to offer camping for those booked with display vehicles on the Saturday evening so you can avoid the early start!
Club Representative, Neil Hart, is coordinating the Club parking area , so do let him know once you have made your booking. His email address is cllpublications@gmail.com
Please email the Club office on info@xkclub.com to be given the code to use when booking tickets for this event.
UK Channel Islands - February meeting
The sun shone bright and the sky was clear when ten of the Jersey Jaguars met up at Jersey Pearl for coffee and cakes recently. Made up of a mixture of E-type Club and Jaguar Enthusiast Club members the cars were dusted off and driven down to St Ouen’s bay and basked in the clean air bringing about great comments of admiration from the visitors to the restaurant.
There were a mixture of different marks with two lovely XKs as well as three E-types. Club members Mark Blanchard and Neil Dangerfield brought their matching Primrose Roadsters which glowed brightly in the sunshine.
Tentative plans were hatched for future meets as the year progresses and also thoughts for trips ‘off island’ to our neighbouring Jaguar owners in France.
Watch these pages for future news. Mark Blanchard

Sunday 3rd August It’s been eight years since our last visit to Forde Abbey (TA20 4LU), and due to its popularity, we’re planning another trip!
Forde Abbey is a stunning historic house with over 900 years of history, set in extensive gardens featuring the largest powered fountain in Britain. It’s not a National Trust property, so there is an entry fee:
-
£19 per person for house and garden
-
£15 per person for garden only
These fees will need to be collected in advance, and tickets will be handed out on arrival.
Meeting Point: This time, we’ll gather just 100 yards east of our usual Poundbury location, at Peppina (DT1 3WE) – a Sicilian bakery with plenty of reserved parking. From there, we’ll enjoy a scenic run to Forde Abbey, taking in both coastal and rural roads.
More details to follow soon – keep an eye out!
